Indoor League Grand Final Preview: Bell vs Duggan

March 13, 2012

So, who’s it gonna be?

Team Bell, the team that has played a flawless three-weeks so far?

Or the Jekyll and Hyde Team Duggan, good for two weeks and simply awful in week three? Which Duggan will show up?

Let’s look at both teams on paper.

——–

Team Bell

T.Bell (c): Staunch. Been consistent all the way through. Even played last week with “Walking Pneumonia” and still played well. The team will be looking to him for inspiration when things get tough.

M.McFarlane: He’s flying in March. Running everywhere like a mad man and kicking goals that hurt. Hard to stop when in he’s in this form. Team Duggan will need to shut him down.

D.Caulfield: Half man, half machine. For a bloke with a dodgy shoulder, he’s still able to hit the ball hard. He’s kicked at least 10 goals in this league and has been a standout forward.Difficult to stop.

A.O’Brien: Cruising and racking up touches down back. If he holds it together down there, Team Bell have a good chance of winning.

T.Simpson: Has kicked some crucial goals up forward. One to watch for a match-winning goal.

S. Freedman: Picked up the game like it’s basketball and has been showing great signs each week. One of the fittest guys out there.

Team Duggan

J.Duggan (c): Went missing last week and can’t have one of those games in the GF. Has looked quick and skillful for the most part. A captain’s game needed; great captains’ rise to the occasion.

C. Stewart: Has played everywhere, but mainly up forward this season. Hasn’t been his damaging self, but when in the zone can bag heaps of goals. A team lifter. Will need to kick 5+ for the team to have a chance at premiership glory.

L.Sorrell: Plugged in at FB most weeks and has been a competitive stopper. Has a tough job on DC this week who is the in-form forward. A win in this position and it could be game-set-match.

S.Wallis: The fiery midfielder is still as quick and sharp as ever. Leave him loose and he’ll carve you up. Don’t let his age fool you,  he’s as good as anyone out there. Jimmy will be looking for him to kick lots of running goals.

D.Prior: Showed glimpses up forward that he can be damaging. Needs to show this for four-quarters and the sky is the limit.

G. Conlon: The tough Irishman loves a contest and will be looking for a win this week to coincide with St.Patty’s Day. A hard runner and one of the best tagger’s out there. Could get the big shutdown job on Micko!

B. Dazzler: Loves his football. That’s why he keeps coming back. The guy they call “Bobby Dazzler” is waiting for his time. His time is this week in the big one when it counts. Watch this space.

——-

So there you have it folks. Who will win the big one?

Team Bell has been the form team, while you’re only as good as your last game and Team Duggan was dreadful last week. Having said that, last time these guys played, only a goal separated them. Here’s hoping for a close clash.

Mt tip: Team Bell by 24-pts (after an even  first three-quarters).

We also have the Div.II final that night as well between Team Yoni and Team McKay. The preview for that comes out tomorrow.
